After almost ten years of trading as /K/ Embedded Java Solutions, we decided to change our name. For one thing the typographical oddity of the “/k/”, while not without its merits, sometimes made us hard to find in a list or catalogue. The name was also too specific; the use of Java in embedded systems remains our main focus, but we also have skills in other areas such as Linux systems programming or SDK development which are not reflected in the old name.
For our customers nothing changes; we are still the same legal entity and still the same people with the same dedication to realising your vision of embedded and mobile systems driven by Java and OSGi technologies.

Since our founding (as /k/ Embedded Java Solutions) in 2003 we have been working with the use of OSGi technology in embedded and mobile applications, and have gathered valuable experience in working with OSGi frameworks – particularly Knopflerfish and ProSyst’s mBS (which are particularly suited to use in such systems), but also Apache Felix.
Much of that experience has been gained using OSGi on the Mika open-source embedded runtime, and we continue to support and develop this software in conjunction with KIFFER LTD.
Through partnerships with suppliers of embedded Java software and hardware, /k/ can also assist with all aspects of Java-enabled embedded devices, and provide support and training services to your engineers and customers.
